The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered an FIR on the complaints of the Union Ministry of Rural Development, regarding a fake advertisement published in Dainik Bhaskar newspaper (Madhya Pradesh edition) of recruitment in Research Development Organisation (RDO). The advertisement was published in the newspaper on June 29 this year.

The Ministry doubted the advertisement as it was published as “Rural Development organisation, Government of India has issued recruitment notification for Madhya Pradesh” and there is no organisation named RDO under the Government of India, said sources.

The complainant in the case, Anant Prakash Panday, Director in Ministry of Rural Development, said that there is no organisation in the name of Research Development Organisation under the Governement of India.

“The advertisement does not seem authentic as it shows more than 3,000 vacancies of three different posts requiring different educational qualifications and carrying same salary. Moreover, they are charging Rs 380-480 from each candidate asking for the DD in favor of RDO payable at 'KOlKATA' and the applications are to be sent to Manager, RDO, Varanasi,” said Pandey in his complaint to the CBI director Alok Kumar Verma on July 21 this year.

Pandey further said that as per information on the internet, Research Development Organisation is an approved charity recognized by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India under the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA) of 1976 and it does not come under the Central Government. RDO is also registered under 12 AA and 80 G of the Indian Income Tax Act of 1961.

Based on Pandey's complaint, the investigating agency registered a First Information Report after preliminary investigation under Sections 420 (Cheating) and 120B (Criminal Conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Section 66D of the Information Technology Act on August 18 this year. No arrest has been made so far in this case, adding that investigation was going on.
