Father kills daughter for ditching husband to marry paramour

A woman who separated from her husband to marry her lover was allegedly strangled to death by her father and other relatives for honour.

The police said Priyanka (22) a resident of Modinagar was married to one Sundar a resident of Quila Parikshatgarh of Meerut. The marriage of the woman was solemnized against her will. During her wedlock of about a year, the couple decided to divorce to pave way for her marriage to her lover Shiv Kumar with whom she maintained her relationship despite her marriage.

Her husband’s decision to divorce her came after she revealed that she had been continuing her affair with Shiv Kumar. As part of their arrangement, she returned to her paternal home in Modi Nagar, said SSP Ghaziabad Nitin Tiwari.

After she returned to her parent’s house, she insisted her father to arrange her marriage with her lover Shiv Kumar - something he opposed bitterly. On the night of March 15, the elder sister Mamta called her to her house in the neighbourhood Sudamapuri and asked her to stay the night. During the night, Mamta, her father, her minor son (17) and her brother-in-law Raju killed her and dumped her body on the railway track near Krishnapuri locality - the neighbourhood of the victim’s paternal home. They hoped that the police would assume that it was an accident on the tracks.

But since no train passed till when her body was found on the track without any accidental injuries, the police treated it as a case of suspicious death.

But to further throw the cops off, the father lodged a complaint with the Modi Nagar police in which he alleged that his daughter’s lover Shiv Kumar had killed her.

“But during investigation this fact came to light that the father conspired with his elder daughter, who was married locally, to eliminate her. All the accused has been arrested the case was solved within 24 hours of occurrence” claimed the SSP.
