The family of a Uganda-based MNC employee, who hailed from Delhi and was killed there last month, has approached the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) seeking justice. In a letter written to Salman Khurshid, the brother-in-law of 31-year-old Harish Sharma, murdered by an absconding security guard of the same company, has asked the MEA to take up the matter with the Ugandan Government to expedite the investigation process and apprehend the accused.
Harish, who was working as the General Manager of Big Boss Universal limited in Uganda’s capital city Kampala, was attacked and shot at by the security guard of the company on September 29.
The incident took place in the presence of the company’s owner, Abhay Bansal, who was talking to Harish when the accused guard rushed into the office pointing a gun at the victim asking for money. However, accused Najibu Buruhani, shot Harish before he could even respond. The post-mortem report revealed that he died due to haemorrhagic shock following gunshot injuries.
“The fact that the episode occurred in the presence of the owner of the company and he was killed by the guard of the same office seems fishy. I suspect a conspiracy. It’s been half-a-month and till now the police there have not been able to trace the murderer. Hence, we had to approach the MEA to look into the issue. We want justice for Harish,”
HN Sharma, brother-in-law of the deceased, stated in the letter. The body of Harish was brought back to Delhi on October 2.
After killing Harish, the security guard abandoned the gun in the compound of the company and fled.
Kampala police tried to locate the accused with the help of canines, but he could not be traced anywhere, informed Sharma.
