Noida Police have registered an FIR against three policemen, including a former Station House Officer (SHO) of a Noida police station for allegedly selling stolen goods seized from a thief in Sector-39 police station.

The FIR has been registered after the district court order on an application filed by the temple authority on June 24.

The sold goods and valuables worth of Rs 2.5 lakh were stolen by thieves from a temple in Sector-126. The residents had noticed the thief next day with valuables from a scrap shop and handed him to officials in Sector 39 police station. An FIR was registered against the theft and they were sent to the jail. But it has been alleged that the seized goods were allegedly sold off and the cops had not returned the same to the temple authorities.

The FIR said the police officials did not maintain any record of the seized items. “They sold the seized items which should have been returned to the temple,” said the complaint Bhagwat Prasad Sharma, a resident of Sector 12 and founding member of the temple. Sharma also approached senior police officials but no action was taken against the accused cops.

This incident reportedly took place on November 13 in 2013 at Balaji Temple Sector 126. Sharma said the temple was under construction at that time and there were some instruments and iron rods in the premises. “The thief decamped with the valuables at night. We reached the temple next day and found it ransacked,” he said.

The local residents launched a search and found the thief selling those stolen goods at a scrap shop. He was identified as Rizwan and he was arrested by police under Section 379 of IPC by Sector-39 police station. Dharmendra Chauhan was the SHO of the police station and he had assigned the investigation to Sub-inspector Swatantra Kumar and head constable Vijay Pal Singh.

“We have registered a case under Section 420, 119 and 218 of IPC against the three police officials on the directions of the court. We will investigate it.,” said BR Zaidi, SHO Sector 39 police station.
