Former Delhi Chief Secretary and Secretary (Coordination and Public Grievances), Sanjay Kumar Srivastava, has been assigned the additional charge of the post of Secretary (Security), Cabinet Secretariat. He is a 1980 batch Indian Administrative Services (IAS) officer of the Arunachal, Goa, Mizoram and Union Territories (AGMUT) cadre. It is noted that the post of secretary (security) is considered very sensitive as it looks after VVIPs security.
Srivastava was chief secretary of Delhi between January 9, 2014 and September 27, 2014. He was appointed by chief secretary of Delhi by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal during his 49 days regime. Srivastava had taken charge as Chief Secretary of the Delhi Government on January 10, 2013 by replacing DM Spolia who was in the post since December 2012. Srivastava was made Chief Secretary of Delhi by then Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to tone down the Delhi Administration but the sudden resignation of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) had left many high and dry.
In the second regime, Srivastava had tried his best to get the post of chief secretary again but Kejriwal did not consider his name after retirement of DM Spolia. He was shunted to Delhi Finance Corporation which is considered less important department among bureaucracy in Delhi. In May this year, he was appointed as secretary official language in the Home Ministry.
