Taking a break from the Metro travels and roadshows, Aam Aadmi Party convener Arvind Kejriwal has decided to take it easy this time before his swearing-in as Chief Minister of Delhi. Sources in the party confirmed on Thursday that Kejriwal will be going for the oath-taking ceremony on Saturday in his Toyota Innova. The ceremony will be held at the historic Ramlila Maidan at noon and several dignitaries are expected to be present for it.

The Aam Aadmi Party has extended invitations to Union Cabinet Ministers and the Prime Minister to attend the ceremony. However, so far no one has confirmed their presence. Senior party leaders also said that they have even extended invites to CM candidates of BJP and Congress, Kiran Bedi and Ajay Maken respectively. “Since the swearing-in is primarily the lieutenant Governor’s function, the guest list will be chosen by him. However, we have expressed our desire to invite these people as well,” they said.

Meanwhile, Minister of Urban Development M Venkaiah Naidu, Home Minister Rajnath Singh and Prime Minister Narendra Modi will not be attending the swearing-in ceremony due to prior commitments. Senior leader Manish Sisodia said, “They have prior engagements, which were made well in advance. Hence, they have expressed their regret at not being able to attend the function.”

Further AAP also made it clear that the oath-taking ceremony was not a political event but a public event. Kejriwal’s voiceover is also on radio which invites the janta of  Delhi to come for his oath-taking ceremony.

Earlier, speculations were rife that Kejriwal would do a roadshow before going to Ramlila Maidan. Additionally, rumours were also doing the rounds that various MlAs would hold roadshows in their constituencies before coming for the function. However, none of that will be happening now. MlAs, in fact, are already holding celebratory rallies in their constituencies as an official way of announcing their win.
