Even my wife does not scold me as much as L-G does, quips Kejriwal

Taking a jibe at Delhi Lieutenant-Governor (L-G) VK Saxena, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday said that even his wife doesn't scold him as much as the L-G does. The relationship between Kejriwal and the L-G has been stormy since Saxena took charge in May. Further, the Delhi Chief Minister suggested that Saxena should “chill a bit.”

In a tongue-and-cheek remark, Kejriwal said in a tweet he has not received as many "love letters" from his wife "in the entire life" as he has from the L-G in just six months.

"As much as L-G sahib scolds me every day, even my wife does not scold me. In the last six months, my wife has not written me as many love letters as L-G sahib has written to me. L-G sahib, chill a bit. And also tell your super boss, chill a little," Kejriwal tweeted in Hindi.

Kejriwal's remarks came days after Saxena in a letter accused him and his ministerial colleagues of showing "utter disregard" towards the commemoration of the birth anniversaries of Mahatma Gandhi and late Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri by not attending events at Raj Ghat and Vijay Ghat.

He slammed Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia for not staying for the whole programme at Raj Ghat and Vijay Ghat.

Earlier, he had written to Kejriwal over the delay in granting permissions for felling trees for infrastructure projects.

Saxena, who took charge as the L-G in May this year, has ordered several probes into the Kejriwal Government's works including the new excise policy, hospital construction, classroom construction, and now the free power scheme.

The Kejriwal Government, too, on Thursday asked the L-G why he has not yet ordered a probe into the alleged toll tax scam worth Rs 6,000 crore in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi even though Sisodia sent him a complaint in this connection with “documents" two months ago.

AAP's Delhi civic body election in-charge Durgesh Pathak asked if Saxena was not able to "muster courage" to order a probe into the alleged scam as some “very senior leader” of the BJP was involved in it. There was no immediate reaction from the L-G office to the AAP's charge even as Kejriwal has maintained a studied silence over Saxena’s letters, till now, with responses coming only in the form of AAP statements or comments from spokespersons such as Atishi and Saurabh Bharadwaj.
