Over 2,100 people, including 306 differently-abled, have been selected by 30 companies in an eight-day-long job fair, Delhi Employment Minister Gopal Rai said on Tuesday. Rai distributed appointment letters to the candidates who were selected for jobs in the summit.

Addressing a gathering of selected candidates at Shah Auditorium, Rai said the Government has done a new experiment by organising a job fair, which will provide job opportunities to unemployed people. Rai also said this is not just job summit, but a trust summit which will enhance trust between people, companies and the Government.

The Minister also said in total, 2,108 people, including 306 differently abled, have been selected by different companies.

Addressing the gathering, Rai said, “This is our first attempt and after a year, we will organise a get together to get the feedback of employees selected in the job fair.”

“The jobs that you have got will give new opportunity and increase your confidence level. In future, the Government will organise more job summits so that unemployed people could get jobs,” he said.

Rai had announced last month that the Delhi Government will organise a ‘Job Summit’ from August 1 to 11 and the concluding session will be held at Shah Auditorium where job letters will be given to selected candidates. He had said 25 companies had agreed to select candidates for jobs like security guards, attendants, helpers, housekeeping, tele-callers, financial planning advisors, drivers, peons and data entry operators, etc.
