Stepping up its offensive on dubious donations to the AAP, the BJP on Wednesday questioned AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal whether there was any quid pro quo between him and the three directors of “dubious” companies who have donated Rs 2 crore to the party. “Is there any quid pro quo,” Union Minister Nirmala Sitharaman asked Kejriwal, questioning him why he was trying to play the victim card despite knowing the tax laws. The Minister has asked Kejriwal to come clean or deny these allegations.
According to Sitharaman, it seems that Kejriwal is avoiding answering her questions because he knows that is truth is very unpleasant. It is noted that The Pioneer has carried a story — AVAM has a bone to pick with AAP as more skeletons tumble out —regarding directors of dubious companies were also directors of SKN Associate limited, whom the Delhi Government’s VAT department has served notices for not paying taxes to the department.
Raising questions to Kejriwal, the Union Minister questioned, “Will Kejriwal answer as to why he took Rs 2 crore donation from from people who are also directors in one SKN Associates ltd. which was declared a defaulter company by Department of Trade and Taxes of Delhi Government just 10 days before Kejriwal took oath as CM of DelhiIJ What is the nexus between tax evading companies and Kejriwal and is this a case of quid pro quo for benefits extended to them during Kejriwal’s tenureIJ”
Sitharaman alleged that he (Kejriwal) should know that the falsehood of present day becomes the black deeds of the person in future. “The politics of falsehood and anarchy of Kejriwal has become his distinct identity. Some of these questions may be old questions but the AAP has not answered these questions. Hence it is necessary to raise them again and again till they answer,” she said. It would be pertinent to mention that officials of VAT department are tightlipped about SKN Associates limited.
Reacting on The Pioneer report, Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad asked Kejriwal to answer queries posed to him for accepting funds from “dummy” companies which “have fictitious addresses, have common directors and no business to show and are making no profits.” Uploading the details of SKN Associates and their link with four dubious companies, Senior BJP leader Subramanian Swamy tweeted, “The Rs2 crore Aaptard FDI could be a bribe for settling the sales tax fraud of the donor, during those 49 days. Aaptards are running around like headless chickens knowing that now a case against Kejri under Prevention of Corruption Act is looming.
