“The huge rush for the admission to the undergraduate courses based on merit continues on the second day, with 87,748 online registrations done till 6 pm,” said Tarun Kumar Das the Registrar of the varsity in a statement.

“Of the registered candidates, 25,241 completed the registration form including the online fee payment,” he said. The online registration began on Wednesday with 30,900 applications registered on the very first day. The Centralised Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) forms are available on Delhi University’s website - du.ac.in - and students will have to make the payment through internet banking.

The fee for general category students is Rs 100 whereas for SC/ST students the admission form is Rs 50.

A total of 60,000 seats in various undergraduate programmes across 70 colleges of the university are up for grab. The last date for online registration is June 19 and the first cut off will be announced on June 27.

This is for the first time that the university has introduced completely online admission procedure for UG admissions unlike previous years when it used to be both online and offline. While “Open Days” counselling sessions are being conducted to answer admission related queries of parents and students, the varsity has also uploaded an animated video on YouTube detailing the filling up of application forms and further process.
