The registrations for admission to various courses at Delhi University (DU) for academic session 2018-19 is slated to start from the first week of April, which would be about two months earlier than usual schedule. last year, the registrations were started on May 22.
The admission committee, chaired by eminent environmental scientist & Dean of Science Faculty Professor Maharaj K Pandit, is mulling over incorporating several key changes in the admission process this year. The committee is planning to do away with the process of “unrealistic” cut-offs by the colleges for which several stakeholders are being consulted. Also the committee is working on formulating a policy on online counseling for admission.
Professor Pandit said this year a special cell has been created for North-East students and a special drive would be conducted for them. “There will be nodal officers in every college for N-E students, further a centralised admission committee for N-E students have been created. They will approach the schools in N-E to encourage students to apply in DU,” said professor Pandit.
Further, 2 per cent extra concession in merit would be given to the women students under the OBC category. This is being done to ensure that no OBC seats are left vacant after the completion of admission process.
