The phase-2 trial of a contactless mobile ticketing app ‘Chartr’ completed successfully in Delhi by the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) on Tuesday.
“The second phase trial from 7th to 21st September covered more than 60 routes from four depots of Delhi Integrated Multi-Modal Transit System (DIMTS) namely Dilshad Garden, Kair Depot, Kushak Nallah Depot, Sunehri Pullah Depot and one route from two depots of the DTC namely Hasanpur Depot and Gazipur Depot,” the department said in a statement issued on Tuesday.
Out of the 51,644 total tickets purchased through this app in this 14 day period, 79.4per cent were free pink tickets for female passengers. An average of 6 per cent ticketing was done through the app during the trial, whereas the AC buses observed 7 per cent tickets sold through the app, it said.
The trial was conducted by a special task force constituted for this purpose by the transport minister that consisted experts from Transport Department, Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology (IIIT-D), Delhi Integrated Multi-Modal Transit System Ltd. (DIMTS), Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) and World Resources Institute (WRI).
The app has been developed with the technical support of IIIT-Delhi. The phase-1 trial of the ‘Chartr’ App was conducted for three days on all cluster buses of route number 473. “The app is likely to be implemented in all Cluster and DTC buses by first week of November 2020. The App can be downloaded from Google Playstore which is now available as a full version. One can also WhatsApp ''Hi'' on 9910096264 to get the App URL,” it said.
“The app has received good responses from the passengers. We have rectified all glitches that we've noticed in the previous trials. We are also in the process of incorporating daily and monthly passes, along with developing a system for non-Smartphone users to buy tickets,” said Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot.
“We are looking forward to covering all the Cluster and DTC buses under this app by the first week of November,” he added.
“The passengers can take an e-ticket through ‘Chartr’ mobile App after boarding the bus. In case a user knows the ticket fare, he/she can also open the App and click on “by fare”, scan the QR code of the bus, select buy new ticket and choose the payment option to get the ticket. In case a user knows the route, source and destination, he/she can click on “by destination”, select the bus route and source stop, select ‘destination’ stop, click on buy and scan Bus QR code and choose the payment option to pay and get the ticket,” it added.
The statement further said that the App automatically suggests ‘Pink Ticket’ (free) for female passengers based on the gender entered by the user.
