Northern Range of Special Cell was working on information that an inter-State narcotic drug cartel is involved in supply of high grade heroin in Delhi, NCR and UP.
It took about three months to identify members of this cartel, said the DCP, adding that their activities were kept under surveillance.
The accused were apprehended when police received information that the two key members would be coming to supply huge consignment of drugs to Nasir in Delhi. Police then laid a trap and the accused people were arrested near Sector-18 Rohini Metro station, Delhi, he said.
On sustained interrogation, both the accused revealed that they received heroin from one Maina, resident of Assam. They also claimed that they have been in the drug supply business for the last four-five years. They revealed that they would travel to Assam and Manipur through train or vehicle and receive crude heroin. They would then process the crude heroin into fine quality heroin in their hideouts, the DCP said.
