The Delhi Police on Friday arrested a driver for allegedly attacking his former woman employer in South Delhi’s Malviya Nagar on May 14. The accused has been identified as Anil Panwar (27), a driver by profession for the last eight years. The blood stained knife was recovered.
Deputy Commissioner of Police, South district, Ishwar Singh said that Anil, who had been on the run following the incident, was found hiding near a Rain Basera at Nizamuddin.
During interrogation, the accused confessed to the crime. He told the police that he had worked as the driver of the woman for around four months in 2016. He was fired from the job on the ground of misbehaviour with a friend of his employer in December last year.
“He demanded one month salary from her. On May 14, he went to the victim’s house, demanded his dues and on refusal, he threatened to damage her car. When the victim tried to remove her car, he attacked her with a knife,” the DCP added. The accused is a school dropout and belongs to a poor family.
Anil had attacked her with a knife and fled the spot on May 14. The victim, who suffered injuries on her neck, was rushed to hospital by local residents. Following a complaint against Anil, a case was registered him and subsequently a police team was formed to trace Anil. The team conducted raids on all possible hideouts in Delhi, NCR and Uttar Pradesh.
“Almost all his relatives and friends interrogated to get clues about his hideout. On Friday, acting on a tip-off that Anil was hiding near a Rain Basera at Nizamuddin, a raid was conducted and he was nabbed from there,” said the DCP.
