Security agencies went into a tizzy when a Scorpio car of a Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) official was allegedly stolen in South Delhi’s Seva Nagar area in the wee hours of Tuesday.
With the national Capital on high alert during Diwali, police teams from other neighbouring States have also been alerted to prevent any misuse of the vehicle which also has passes to the secure buildings in CGO complex and the Indira Gandhi International Airport.
A senior police officer said, “An incident of Motor Vehicle theft was reported at the Kotla Mubarakpur police station regarding theft of a white Scorpio car bearing registration no Dl3CCl9125. The eight month old car is owned by Directorate of Revenue Intelligence official. The theft was reported from the Sevanagar area of South Delhi district between 2-4am on October 17.”
Confirming about the case, Chinmoy Biswal, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police 1 (South) said, “The vehicle belongs to a DRI official having office at Pariyavaran Bhawan. The vehicle was parked by the private driver Mohd Sahid near his house in Sewa Nagar. He is working for the past two years and had parked the vehicle at night.”
“Since the vehicle is having entry passes of secured building/premises like CGO complex and International Airport, we have deployed teams to recover the stolen car at the earliest,” added the senior police official of the South district.
Apart from the teams of Delhi Police, police teams in other states have also been alerted to prevent any possible misuse of the vehicle by miscreants during Diwali festival.
