DPCC chief seeks removal of Para 7A from Bill

Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) president Subhash Chopra, along with former Delhi Urban Development Minister Arvinder Singh Lovely and chief spokesperson Mukesh Sharma, on Saturday, demanded to withdraw the Para 7A in Section 7 of the notification, issued on 19 November, 2019, regarding the regularisation of unauthorised colonies by the Centre.

“Both Centre and the Kejriwal Government in Delhi are deliberately delaying the regularisation and registry of unauthorised colonies, proffering various excuses, which will affect the lives of over 40 lakh people in Delhi,” said the congress leaders.

“Modi and Kejriwal Governments nullified the notification issued by the Congress Government and came out with a new notification only to delay and prevent the regularisation of unauthorised colonies,” said DPCC president adding it was for the first time that Union Urban Development Minister Hardeep Puri has not tabled the list of unauthorised colonies in Parliament.

“Avoiding the list from tabling in parliament clearly shows that BJP was already feeling guilty that if the list is tabled in Parliament, the people of Delhi will not allow them to sit idle. Congress party will not allow any other policy other than the one applied by the Congress when former prime minister Indira Gandhi’s Government regularised unauthorised colonies in 1976-77,” Chopra added.

“BJP MP Shri Ramesh Bidhuri and the BJP leaders were only rubbing salts into the wounds of the people living in unauthorised colonies when they distributed sweets without realising that the sword of demolition was hanging over colonies like Tuglakkabad and Sangam Vihar,” said Lovely.

The DPCC leaders also announced that congress workers, along with representatives of unauthorised colonies, will gherao the office of Hardeep Puri at Nirman Bhawan  on 3rd December, Tuesday, as part of the first phase of the Congress party’s agitation against the Modi and Kejriwal Governments for dilly-dallying the regularization process of unauthorized colonies.
