Delhi Police has arrested two persons, including a domestic help, in connection with a robbery-cum-murder case in South-East Delhi’s Amar Colony where a 53-year-old woman was killed and the accused decamped with valuables worth lakhs from the woman’s flat on Tuesday. Police said there are five accused in the case and two have been arrested so far. The rest suspected to have fled from Delhi and efforts are on to nab them.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), South-East district, Romil Baaniya, said the two accused, Roshan (22) and Shesh Narain Rawat (26), were nabbed from Atta Village, Noida on Wednesday morning and looted gold and diamond jewellery worth almost Rs 20 lakh and Rs 3 lakh in cash were recovered from them.

Police nabbed the two accused after tracking the Facebook profile of Roshan. On Tuesday, police were informed by Manak lal that after reaching home, he found his wife Sarita lying dead and the almirahs in his bedroom and storeroom had been opened and valuables had been stolen.

One of their servants, Rajan, was found tied with ropes. Rajan told police that Roshan had let four other men inside the house and robbed the valuables and killed Sarita.

Sarita’s mouth was taped and she was also tied with ropes and due to suffocation caused by the tape, she died, police said.

Raiding teams were also sent all over Delhi and Uttar Pradesh at the potential hideouts and routes where the suspects could go.

During investigation, it was found that Roshan had been hired only a month ago and the family had not got his servant verification done. The employers neither had any clue about his personal details, nor his pictures.

Police tried to contact the placement agency through which Roshan was hired but it was not very cooperative. The address which existed in their records was fake, police said.

A vital clue emerged after police found that Roshan was active on Facebook by the name Balram and had even uploaded his pictures, said DCP Baaniya.

Through Facebook account, police found his mobile number and started analysing its call detail records.

Police managed to trace Roshan and his accomplice Rawat to Atta Village in Noida.

During interrogation, Roshan told police that he used to sell momos in Atta Market, Noida but coming from a village in Gonda, he had always aspired to live a luxurious life and wanted to own an Audi Car.

He started working as a domestic help in Manak lal’s house and found that lal and his son used to leave for work early while Sarita used to be alone.

The five accused were neighbours in Todapur and that is how they came in contact with each other.
