It was a moment of joy for Jawaharlal Nehru University’s famous Mamu’s Dhaba owner Shahzad Ibrahimi to sit through newly-appointed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s swearing-in ceremony on Monday. According to him, it was the “biggest happiness” of his life.

“A chaiwala has become the Prime Minister and he asked another chaiwala to witness it. I am overwhelmed. It was so good to be there and watch him take his oath. The fact that I was specially called is something I am still trying to fathom,” said Ibrahimi, who had no clue how he got the invite. According to sources, he got an invite after a leader of RlSP, a BJP ally in Bihar, shared his profile with Modi’s office, requesting it for an invite for him. And it was duly delivered. The 41-year-old is a maverick who decided to start a dhaba only because of lack of job opportunity. Ibrahimi is a resident of Sheikhpura in Bihar and has done his MA, MPhil and PhD from JNU. However, all of that could not get him a good job landed him here.
