The three-kilometre stretch from Maharani Bagh on DND Flyway witnessed traffic snarls during the peak hours particularly in the evening on Monday due to closure of 1.5-kilometre stretch on Delhi-Noida side for re-carpeting.

Two lanes of the carriageway from Delhi to Noida were closed and the traffic got diverted to the other carriageway making it difficult for the commuters to wade through heavy traffic.

Meanwhile, the DND management has decided to open the under-repair carriageways to combat traffic during peak hours from Tuesday morning. According to the officials, relaying work will now be done only between 11pm and 5 am and traffic will remain open to avoid inconvenience to motorists.

According to the DND authority, though traffic movement was smooth on Saturday and Sunday, it went out of gear on Monday. Traffic crawled on the diverted stretch for couple of hours on Monday morning and evening.

“For the convenience of our commuters, the overlay work on DND Flyway will be undertaken during non-peak hours, 11pm and 5 am during week days, for the time being. Both carriageways will be open to traffic during peak hours,” said Anwar Abbasi spokesperson of DND Flyway

Initially DND management had decided to close down 1.5-kilometre stretch for seven-day period and the traffic was diverted on two opposite lanes of Noida-Delhi route.

“During the three days of repair work, we have finished the repair work so we could open the road for vehicles. Now we will work on 1.5 kilomtere stretch from Noida to Delhi which will be done only during non-peak hours,” he said.
