DMRC bends backwards to straighten out curvy BSZ Marg

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has straightened the otherwise curvy Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg leading to the ITO intersection. While the main carriageway has been widened by pushing the barricades backwards toward the post office at BSZ Marg, the other side towards Press area has now been barricaded for the construction of the subway in front of Dolls Museum. The corporation has also widened the left turn leading to Indraprastha Marg.

On October 14, The Pioneer had first reported about the new traffic diversions. Following the two-part series undertaken by The Pioneer, the corporation has expedited the construction of ITO Metro station, which was personally inspected by DMRC Managing Director Mangu Singh.

“The barricades have been moved back towards post office on BSZ Marg. The road is now about 25-30 metres wide. Road carpeting has been completed. The service lane along BSZ Marg has barricades in front of Dolls Museum due to construction of subway. These barricades may be extended further to link House,” said a DMRC spokesperson. Parking for those working in the Press area may be difficult due to this.

Besides, the DMRC has also removed the barricades on the slip road going towards Delhi Police HQs. “The left turn from BSZ Marg leading to Indraprastha Marg has been widened and the work got completed on Sunday. This the DMRC has done after it received a formal letter from the Delhi Police to widen that stretch,” said the official, adding that it has also deputed marshals at the subway to request people to use it.
