Staff Reporter

A 46-year-old contractor with Delhi Jal Board was allegedly shot dead on Tuesday night in his office at Rohini. Police have registered a case on charges of murder and are looking for the accused.

The victim identified as Babu lal Yadav, who had his office in Rohini Sector-16, was shot at around 11 pm when he was waiting for his son in the office after returning from a site. A worker at the premises told police that two men had asked him for Yadav’s address after which they went inside and came out within 10 minutes. The body was discovered a few minutes later when his son returned.

Police suspect the reason to be personal enmity and money dispute based on the family’s charges levelled against two criminals involved in gambling in Mukherjee Nagar and Rohini. A senior police officer said that Yadav was involved in gambling as well but quit it after his family convinced him into taking up a clean job.

Police are examining CCTV footage of the premises to nab the criminals.

In another incident, a 30-year-old man identified as Manish, native of Uttar Pradesh and resident of a village in Outer Delhi, was found stabbed to death in Narela area. Police suspect it to be a case of personal enmity or resistance to robbery.

Body of the victim, worker at a food products factory, was found in the bushes in an open field. According to police, Manish had left his home to go to work in the morning after which the family didn’t hear from him.

Police are trying to identify the accused and have registered a case under section 302 (punishment for murder) of IPC.
