Dikshit raps Opp's stagnancy claims

Congress nominee from New Delhi seat and Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on Tuesday unveiled future steps to make a better and prosperous Delhi during the next five years.

While criticising the Opposition for making allegations without any evidence, she said it is better to back allegations with logic than levelling frequent corruption charges against the city Government. “This is an open challenge to the principal Opposition party, the BJP, as nobody has been able to raise a finger against any Minister and Government during the past 15 years,” Dikshit said, while addressing a Press conference at her residence with her three Ministerial colleagues Arvinder Singh, Raj Kumar Chauhan and Haroon Yusuf.

“Progress and development during the last 15 years is quite evident. The claim of the Opposition that nothing has moved in Delhi during the last 15 years is rather baseless and vague. The three consecutive victories are enough to refute such allegations,” she added. It was also added that work on construction of double-decker flyovers, monorail and study on laying of trams would be taken up with an aim to decongest roads and restrict plying of private vehicles. Delhi would be turned into a hub of knowledge and skill.

The Pioneer has earlier reported that double-decker flyovers and trams would be part of the Congress manifesto. Dikshit stated that holding areas called “Shramik Ashray Kendra” would be constructed for the workers. Under the revised “Kabil laadli” programme, an additional amount of Rs 50,000 would be spent on skill development of the girl child after she clears school education.

She said it has also been planned to construct a large number of public conveniences in every Assembly segment out of which 20 would be constructed exclusively for women. The number of e-sub registrar offices would be increased under administrative reform initiative. The Congress party would strive hard to ensure a Single Common Command to get rid of multiplicity of authorities causing delay in implementation of the programmes and schemes of development and welfare.
