They are young, they are focused and they are the future — the young guns in the national Capital have signalled towards a wind of change on the polling day by unanimously rooting for the debutante Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).

Flaunting their ink mark, the youth of the Capital and students of Delhi University did not hesitate a bit in expressing their support for the self-claimed ‘honest party’ that promises to bring about a change in governance. Some young voters were seen using social networking sites to share their “first time” experience.

The eagerness to vote was apparent among the first-time voters, who constitute over four lakh of the total electorate. This young lot, made sure that the presence of the AAP was felt in a big way. “We want the AAP to win. The country needs a change and a beginning is necessary. We feel that the promises made by them are not farce,” said 20-year-old Bhavna, a student of Delhi University who is a first-time voter.

The North Campus witnessed a swarm of students and youngsters, belonging to the age group of 18-25 years, coming out in large numbers to extend support to the self-proclaimed 'anti-graft party' to cut into votes of the veteran parties like the Congress and BJP.

"It's our responsibility to vote for the right candidates and the right party as a whole. The AAP has brought a ray of hope among the people and has generated the long-lost interest of citizens in voting. It is because of the AAP that we have come out to vote," said Sajad, a PhD student in DU.

The AAP, which initially seemed to be losing out on its faceless candidates, showed its presence significantly, especially in Delhi University's North Campus, Malkaganj and Mukherjee Nagar, which fall under the Timarpur constituency. The wave of change was also evident in RK Puram constituency where youngsters vouched for the AAP. Most of youths were of the view that they could connect with the AAP and its convener Arvind Kejriwal, who has a mass appeal.
