Delhi wants AAP to form Govt

Staff Reporter

A latest opinion poll has suggested that over 80 per cent of the population of Delhi want the Aam Aadmi Party to form the Government. The AAP, which got the second largest vote share with 28 seats after the BJP in the December 4 Assembly elections, continues to enjoy preference over other parties as 64 per cent have agreed to vote for the debutant party once again if fresh elections are held next year.

The snap poll conducted by ABP News-Nielsen also revealed that around 59 per cent of the people believe that Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP would be able to deliver on the promises it had made during its election campaign in the city. Interestingly, while 64 per cent opted to vote in favour of AAP in case of re-elections, at the same time, 64 per cent of the respondents also expressed their dissent over fresh elections for Delhi Assembly.

Only 33 per cent feel that there should be a re-polling in Delhi, according to the snap poll where over 58 per cent of the respondents were aged between 24 to 45 years.

Meanwhile, even as the popularity of the party continues, there has been a marginal drop in its supporters ever since the results were out on December 8.

While a poll survey conducted for the polling day on December 4 had suggested 71 per cent of voters would press the button on the broom symbol, now the same has reduced by seven per cent.

The reason for the dip in its popularity may be attributed to the AAP taking way too much time in deciding whether it wants to form the Government or not.
