The Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) is planning to roll out 100 Type-3 electric inter-State buses across 17 identified routes connecting Delhi to nearby States, including several that lead to religious and pilgrimage destinations, officials said on Friday.

The decision was taken during a meeting of the DTC Board and was chaired by Health and Transport Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh, where members shared detailed plans for expanding inter-State connectivity using zero-emission buses. These buses will be run by existing DTC drivers, which means no new hiring will be required and the current workforce will be effectively utilised. The move is part of the Government’s broader “Viksit Sankalp Patra” vision and supports the ongoing “Green Delhi, Clean Delhi” campaign.

Pankaj Kumar Singh said, “These electric inter-state buses are a milestone in our journey toward sustainable transportation. They will improve travel options for commuters heading to neighbouring states and religious sites, while also contributing to cleaner air in Delhi. At the same time, enhancing ad revenue will help make DTC financially stronger.”

The DTC Board is expected to begin the rollout process soon, with details about the exact routes and timelines to be announced in the coming weeks.
