Delhi Congress on Thursday launched “Jal Satyagraha” to protest against the acute shortage of drinking water in the national Capital and the alleged failure of the Aam Aadmi Party Government to control water tanker mafias.
Delhi Congress president Ajay Maken said that the present water crisis has completely exposed the AAP Government's lies of giving free water to the people.
“The Government has failed to ensure drinking water supply to the people, particularly in areas where the poor people live. The crisis has already claimed three innocent people,” he said.
The party has planned a month-long Jal Satyagraha in all the 70 assembly constituencies of Delhi as the Kejriwal Government has failed to address the water shortage.
Maken further said that the AAP Government, which had promised to eliminate the water tanker mafia, was now in league with the tanker mafia and people are forced to purchase water from these mafias due to the non-availability of potable water.
