The Delhi BJP on Thursday warned the State Government that if power tariff continued to rise, it will intensify its protest across the city.
State president of BJP Vijay Goel said if the Government does not relent, it will have to face the acrimony of the people of Delhi. While leading a protest at DERC office in Malviya Nagar, Goel said, “The movement will continue until the Delhi Government takes initiative to reduce the hiked power tariff. In last 24 months Delhi people have witness a 59 percent increase in electricity bills whereas in Gujrat only 6 percent power tariff increased in the same period.”
Goel also alleged that the chairman of DERC did not think it was necessary to give appointment to BJP delegation during the last three days because he had no answer to the 10 questions raised to him for which the party had given him four days.
“I had personally met the Police Commissioner regarding the protest against the increased power tariff. He first allowed it and later back tracked. If the Delhi Government and the DERC do not listen and the police does not allow demonstration then how and where are the people to express their acrimonyIJ” he asked. Goel threatened if the DERC chairman did not give appointment to the joint delegation of BJP and RWAs on March 22, then protest will be staged again on March 23.
