DC asks students applying under sports quota to upload 3 best certificates

Aspirants who seek admissions under the ‘sports quota’ at Delhi University (DU) for the academic session 2018-19 are required to upload three of their best sports certificates while applying under the quota on the online admission portal.

This is contrary to the rule last year when candidates were required to upload only one of the certificates which was their best.

However, many candidates had made mistakes by uploading certificate that was not their best. As a result they failed to make through the final merit. "Due to which they were not able  get admission under the sports quota despite of performing well in trials," said a DU official.

Admissions under the sports quota are done on the basis of trials and marks given on sports certificates. While 60 per cent weightage would be given for trials rest 40 percent is for the certificate. DU accords different weightages to the Certificates of various categories like District level, state level, national level and international level respectively.

This year the university has also asked colleges to specify the different types of vacancies under a particular sport. For example colleges have to specify the number of strikers or defenders in Football or fast bowlers or spinners for cricket teams etc.

Five percent seats would be reserved for Sports and Extra Curricular Activity (ECA) quota in different DU colleges. Registrations for DU admissions for Undergraduate Courses (UG) will tentatively begin this week or next with the opening of registration portal.
