The Congress Screening Committee headed by V Narayansamy on Wednesday cleared 10 more names of sitting MlAs for re-nominations for the Assembly polls but the names of three sitting MlAs are still in abeyance due to criminal background, non-performance and old age.
The final decision will be taken by Central Election Committee headed by Congress president Sonia Gandhi. The CSC has cleared names of at least 40 sitting MlAs but names of three MlAs are on hold due to criminal antecedents. It is learnt that names of Asif Mohd Khan, Dayanand Chandela and Jaswant Singh Rana are on the back burner. Asif is seeking a ticket from Okhla, Chandela is seeking re-nomination from Rajouri Garden. Rajya Sabha MP Parvez Hashmi is also seeking a ticket from Okhla. Sheila Dikshit is reportedly backing Asif, who joined the Congress at her behest. Jaswant Rana is seeking a ticket from Narela. A section in the Delhi Congress is opposing his re-nomination.
