A Delhi Court on Monday reserved the order on issue of summoning Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and others in a criminal defamation case filed by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley.

Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Sanjay Khanagwal fixed the matter for February 23 for delivering the order on Jaitley’s application seeking summoning of Kejriwal for defaming him.

Jaitley was also presented in the court room with his counsel Siddharth luthra who is handling the matter alongwith Manoj Taneja and Manik Dogra. During an hour long course of arguments, the judge was taken through the content of the allegations made by the complainant.

In the complaint, alongwith the documents filed in the copies of Facebook and Twitter account of Arvind Kejriwal, the court was also taken through the statements recorded by the complainant and four other witnesses, including journalist Rajat Sharma and DDCA officials.

Jaitley had filed a complaint against Kejriwal and five other Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders. Jaitley on January 5, recording his statement, told the court that Kejriwal and the five people had given “false” and “defamatory” statements against him, harming his reputation.

He has also said AAP leaders made the statements with the intention to deflect attention from a CBI investigation against a particular civil servant who was working with Kejriwal and against whom a third party had filed a complaint. Jaitley requested the court to initiate proceedings against Kejriwal, Kumar Vishwas, Ashutosh, Sanjay Singh, Raghav Chadha and Deepak Bajpayee for defaming him.
