Various student organisations in fray to the Delhi University Students' Union (DUSU) Poll, have formally announced the name of their candidates contesting for the DUSU posts. DUSU elections are due on 12 September and the candidates will officially get about 4 days for campaigning, except on holidays.

Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) backed Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has given DUSU tickets to Ankiv Basoya, Shakti Singh, Sudhir Dedha and Jyoti Chaudhary for the posts of president, vice-president, secretary and joint secretary posts respectively.

Contrary to the trend, as generally observed over the years, the right wing ABVP has included popular student face Shakti Singh who hails from Mau district of eastern Uttar in its panel for DUSU this year. ABVP has projected him for the post of vice-president “sensing” that votes of students hailing from the region may polarize in its favor.

The right wing student organisation is batting for a “purvanchali” face allegedly in its bid to garner votes of students who are from eastern UP, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Madhya-Pradesh as the polarization of these votes may increase its prospects of winning DUSU.

While, the Congress party's student wing —National Students' Union of India (NSUI) — is apparently not up with the politics of “regionalism” and “caste”.  NSUI has projected Sunny Chillar for the post of President, Leena for vice-president, Aakash Choudary for secretary and Saurabh Yadav for joint secretary.

While on the other hand newly formed alliance between left student organisation All India Students' Association (AISA) and AAP student wing Chhatra Yuva Sangharsh Samiti (CYSS) , AISA-CYSS who have seat sharing agreement among themselves have pitched Abhigyan for president, Anshika for vice-president, Chandramani Dev for secretary while Sunny Tanwar for joint secretary. President and vice-president is contested is contested by AISA while secretary and joint secretary by CYSS.

On the other hand panel for JNU elections have also been announced. ABVP panel for JNUSU - Lalit Pandey for president, Geetasri Bourah for VP, Ganesh Gurjar for general secretary and Venkat Couubey for joint secretary. The left parties is contesting the JNUSU in coalition as “left unity”.
