Congress blames AAP Govt for losing war against deadly dengue

Delhi Government has not released allocated funds to East MCD despite the fact that East Delhi and trans-Yamuna areas are reeling under severe dengue outbreak.

The Kejriwal Government released just Rs7.10 crore to SDMC and Rs9.30 crore to North MCD whereas the total budget to prevent the spread of the vector borne diseases or for dengue-malaria is Rs81.40 crore in the current fiscal year.

These startling disclosures, made on the basis of the reports received from the three municipal bodies, were made on Tuesday by Delhi Congress president Ajay Maken.

Maken said of the total budgetary allocation of about Rs37.22 crore for dengue and malaria to the North Delhi Municipal Corporation, the Government has released only Rs9.30 crore so far. “Of the Rs28.42 crore allocation for the South Delhi Municipal Corporation, the Government has released only Rs7.10 crore. And the East Delhi Municipal Corporation has not received even a penny from its total budgetary allocation of Rs15.88 crore so far.”

According to Maken, Rs7.10 crore to South MCD was released on September 17 after the Congress protest across the city on the issue of dengue. The Kejriwal Government has not released a single penny to cash starved East MCD which is facing severe dengue outbreak.

It would be pertinent to mention that Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has alleged that the civic body was not spending the amount allotted to it for development of the city. Kejriwal, who had made a surprise visit to Rajiv Gandhi hospital on Friday last week said spraying mosquito repellants require

no money.

“”Jitna paisa de do saara khaa jaate hain. Kaam nahi karna bas paisa, paisa, paisa karna hai (Whatever amount is provided to them, they (Municipal corporations) consume everything. Instead of doing their work, they always seek money),” he told reporters.

Maken said he was shocked over the way the Government had been dealing with the dengue crisis.
