After the Union Government’s notification demarcating powers which are vested with the Raj Niwas and Players Building, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is said to have softened his stand over the transfer of senior officer Anindo Majumdar. Majumdar was reportedly transferred by Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia from the post of Principal Secretary (Services) for issuing orders on the directions of the lieutenant Governor on giving additional charge of Chief Secretary to Power Secretary Shakuntala Doley Gamlin. Majumdar’s rooms had been locked, following which he had preceded on leave. Kejriwal on Friday reportedly told Majumdar that by disobeying his orders, he felt hurt. later in the evening, Majumdar reportedly joined back his office.
There are also indications that the Chief Minister may be holding meting with lieutenant Governor every week to discuss important issues. “The issues concerning transfers and postings of senior officers can be discussed by the two in the weekly meetings so that there is smooth functioning of the Government machinery,” a source close to Raj Niwas said. Some bureaucrats are also of the view that the Government should set up a Civil Services Board for transfer and postings of senior officers. “Once the board gives its recommendations, it can be either accepted or turned down by the CM,” the officer said.
