CM shedding crocodile tears on plight of 100 families: Congress

Staff Reporter

Delhi Congress accused Delhi Chief Minister of shedding “crocodile tears” and making a “mockery” of the plight of over 100 families whose houses have been demolished at Laxmi Market by East Delhi Municipal Corporation.

Congress Delhi unit president Anil Kumar said that Congress has been demanding rehabilitation and compensation of all the affected people ever since the demolition of these houses was carried out.

Kumar said that people have been living in East Laxmi Market since 1982 though the cluster had come up as far back as 1962 and they have all the valid documents to prove their residential status.

The Congress president had also written to the Lieutenant Governor on 15th July, requesting his intervention in the rehabilitation of the uprooted people under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna.

Meanwhile party vice-president Jaikishan also visited the area and sought compensation from the government of Rs 25 lakh for each of the affected family.

“The party will take the street against the ruling AAP government and the East Corporation if the residents are not rehabilitated,” he said.
