leader of Opposition in the Delhi Assembly Vijender Gupta said that disqualification of 20 AAP MlAs is a huge moral defeat for the Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. “He must resign on ethical grounds and seek fresh mandate,” adding, “It deserves praise for its dogged perusal of the case despite several hurdles being put by the AAP,” Gupta said.
“Better late than never, EC disqualifies 20 AAP MlAs for holding ‘office of profit’. The AAP Government has much to answer to the public for their political impropriety as Delhi is headed for mid-term #elections. Will request Hon’ble President for speedy approval,” Gupta tweeted.
“Under the constitutional provisions Delhi cannot have more than seven Ministers. However, appointing 21 Parliamentary Secretaries to save the party (AAP) from disintegration after Yogender Yadav left party, 21 MlAs were appointed almost equivalent to Ministers which is against the Constitution,” said Gupta.
He also said that AAP-led Delhi Government misused the public exchequer public funds for the last two-and-a-half year by engaging big-wig lawyers to fight their case on the issue.
The BJP leader further said that the AAP Government has must to answer to public for its political impropriety as its action has led Delhi to the possibility of midterm election.
“I will request the President of India to give speedy approval the recommendations of the Election Commission,” the leader said after the Election Commission’s decision on AAP MlA’s office of profit case. “There is no point in dilly-dallying tactics of AAP MlAs seeking relief from the Court,” he added.
Gupta also condemned the AAP for criticising the constitutional offices of the Prime Minister of India (PMO) and the Chief Election Commissioner as well.”
This party must apologies to the nation for denigrating and humiliating the august constitutional offices on disqualification of its 20 MlAs, said Gupta.
