Concerned over the inordinate delay in regularisation of unauthorised colonies, Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on Thursday held a review meeting with top officials to expedite the process. Dikshit called for the meeting on account of undue delay in the process despite the Cabinet having cleared the same.

As per reports, land records of some unauthorised colonies are untraceable whose compen-sation has been given by the Government while khasra numbers and land status were overlapping in Shahdara and North-East district. In some cases, there is no map of colonies either.

Sources told The Pioneer that Dikshit directed officials to clear the status of land in unauthorised colonies as early as possible which has delayed the process of regularisation. The Urban Development Depart-ment officials blamed the Revenue Department for delaying the process. The CM reportedly stated that if there was no technical hitch, the officials should sit and resolve the issue at the earliest. Sources said that in some cases, some technical and grammatical glitches were found regarding land status, while some colonies on private land were shown on Government land.

The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary DM Spolia, Principal Secretary (Finance) Shakti Sinha, Directorate of local Bodies RK Srivastava, Divisional Commissioner Dharampal, Deputy Commiss-ioners (Revenue), SDM and officials of Planning and Finance Department.

Divisional Commissioner Dharampal said that the Revenue Department was most likely to submit details regarding land status of some unauthorised colonies by Friday.

Officials said the Gover-nment was considering easing on certain norms to facilitate basic infrastructure in all unauthorised colonies in the city. The Delhi Government has already written to Union Urban Development Minister Kamal Nath for changing land use norms in such settlements.
