Clinical precision is smoking gun in lajpat Nagar heist

The lajpat Nagar robbery case on Tuesday was a crime pulled off with clinical precision that may prove a hard nut to crack for Delhi Police. The police have so far failed to get any vital clue in the case including any CCTV footage of the incident. The robbery was executed so precisely that police even suspect it to be the handiwork of some insiders. The car of the property dealer was intercepted immediately after the BRT corridor so that they could not be caught by the CCTV cameras installed on the stretch. Also, the scene of the crime was at some distance from the lajpat Nagar Metro station where CCTV cameras are installed.

Four men in the same Verna car had on January 22 kidnapped and robbed a small time businessman from West Delhi’s Mundka area for Rs1.30 lakh. A case of the same has been registered at the Mundka police station.

The accused were well versed with the topography of the area and had recced it earlier before committing the crime. The men also knew all the possible exit points. Though the police managed to recover the vehicles used in the commission of crime yet they were unable to find a vital clue regarding the case. Till late night the police could not identify any of the accused or could make headway in the case. The occupants of the car told the police that the men appeared between the age group of 18-20 years. “The men were conversing in Haryanvi and were swift in their movements. They had pre-planned the robbery and knew well about the timing and plans of the victims.  The way the crime has been executed reveals the involvement of an insider in the case,” a police official said. Soon after the incident, officers from the Crime Branch, Special Cell and the Special Task force reached the location and started assisting in the investigation being carried out by the South district police. There was no CCTV footage at the BRT corridor as the goons were aware of cameras installed.

Heavy traffic was the perfect ruse

The unidentified robbers took advantage of the crowd and heavy traffic on Moolchand flyover to escape after robbing Rs7.69 crore on Tuesday. The incident took place around 9.30 am, a time when traffic is at its peak on the entire stretch. The arterial roads are chock-a-bloc with vehicles as the area is also frequented by a large number of pedestrians who use the metro station located in the vicinity. Police sources said at least five PCR vans patrol the area round the clock but they too failed to notice the incident and the robbers easily managed to give cops a slip. Being one of the high profile areas, the time of the incident has shocked the residents as well.
