'Clear picture' will emerge after Mukhi's 'routine' meet with BJP chief Amit Shah

On a day Delhi’s lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung said he would consult BJP on the ongoing political situation, senior BJP leader Jagdish Mukhi met party president Amit Shah and said a ‘clear picture’ would emerge in a couple of days. Mukhi, the senior most of all BJP MlAs and a strong contender for the chief minister’s post, is understood to have briefed him on the current developments.

He, however, said it was a ‘routine’ meeting but maintained that the party’s stand on formation of government or re-elections in Delhi would be clear soon. “The BJP is in the process of finalising things with its national leadership. Our party’s stand on the current political situation will be clear in two to three days,” Mukhi said, adding the BJP was ‘open’ to all options in Delhi — formation of Government, re-elections as well as extending the President’s Rule.

Asked whether the BJP had received invitation or any communication from the lG office, Mukhi replied in negative and said the party would finalize its strategy if invited by the lieutenant Governor. He reiterated the party’s stand that its leaders were ready to face elections as also they were ready to take a shot at government formation. Delhi BJP president Satish Upadhyay on Sunday had already indicated that cobbling together government will not be a challenge for the BJP given an opportunity by the lieutenant Governor. With its 29 MlAs, the BJP requires five more legislators in the Assembly to prove its majority.
