Clash between AISA, ABVP at DU during counselling of aspirants

Staff Reporter

Activists of the left-backed All India Students Association (AISA) and the RSS-affiliated Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) on Tuesday clashed in Delhi University where counselling sessions on admissions to the varsity were taking place.

Though both groups filed cross complaints, no FIR was registered, an official at the Maurice Nagar Police Station said. “It was an argument between them,” he said.

AISA member Sujit Chandra Banshi said trouble broke out when they were distributing pamphlets.

“When I along with two other AISA members, was distributing pamphlets about the varsity’s admissions procedures, ABVP activists manhandled me and threatened to kill us,” Banshi said.

However, Delhi University Students Union (DUSU) president and ABVP member Amit Tanwar had a different version of what happened.
