Centre pressurising CBI to arrest Sisodia: AAP

Staff Reporter

The AAP on Monday alleged that the BJP-led Central Government is pressuring CBI into arresting Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and they harassed CBI officer Jitendra Kumar to such an extent that he died by suicide.

Addressing multiple Press conferences, AAP spokesperson Saurabh Bharadwaj and AAP MLA from Kalkaji, Atishi also described the BJP’s “sting operation” as “absolutely useless, baseless and third class” and said the BJP is “just fishing to somehow find something” and save its face as the CBI “failed” to get anything incriminating against Sisodia.

“Why is the CBI silent on Kumar’s death? Not a single CBI functionary came in front to talk about his death or even issue a personal obituary about their officer. Of what I have learnt, he was a very honest, dedicated and senior officer of the CBI. He was very legally sharp too. The CBI’s silence on his death is very shocking,” said Bharadwaj.

“Under pressure from the Central Government, the officer was working on the CBI’s false accusation. He was under pressure, against his will, to somehow present a compelling case against Sisodia, so that he could be imprisoned and publicly humiliated. No competent officer is ready for such circumstances,” said Bharadwaj.

Atishi said that as much pressure was built on Jitendra Kumar, who was the CBI’s legal advisor in the case against Sisodia, for making a case for the issuance of an arrest warrant against the deputy chief minister that he could not bear it and died by suicide two days ago.

She claimed that none of the legal advisors of the CBI is ready to recommend the issuance of an arrest warrant against Sisodia because they have to mention a valid ground for it in their legal opinion and that the agency failed to find anything incriminating against the deputy chief minister either from his residence or his wife’s bank locker.

Atishi condoled the alleged suicide of Kumar and assured his family members that the AAP stands by them.

“There cannot be anything more sad in this country than that an officer had to die by suicide because of the prime minister’s conspiracy,” she alleged and demanded that Modi spell out the names of the CBI officials on whom he is “exerting pressure” to arrest Sisodia “anyhow”.
