The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) launched a frontal attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) blaming them for the cases of dengue and chikanguniya reported in the national Capital. “The inefficiency and corruption of the BJP-run MCDs has resulted in an unprecedented situation wherein the year’s first cases of dengue and chikanguniya have already been reported between the months of January and March. 79 cases of chikanguniya and 24 of dengue have been reported over this period which has never happened in several years,” AAP said.
A triangular contest is scheduled to be held on April 23 for the three civic bodies.
Addressing the media, the Delhi Convener of the AAP Dilip Pandey said, “In comparison with previous years, dangerous illnesses like chikanguniya and dengue have reared their ugly heads months in advance. It is clear this is the consequence of the BJP’s inefficient administration of the MCDs over the last ten years. BJP and Congress have together caused the MCD to come to mean M-Malaria, C-Chikanguniya, D-Dengue. last year's numbers for affected people are known to people.”
“last year, the CAG indicted the BJP-run MCDs in its report for misusing `43.45 crore on incorrect techniques and chemicals for fogging, in its failed effort to control the mosquito menace in Delhi. The report makes it clear that the MCD’s fogging exercise had had no impact on mosquitos and that the `43.45 crores spent on the fogging was a complete waste of public money,” he added.
The AAP believes that the BJP has made crores of rupees through the MCDs putting at risk the live of the people of Delhi, which it will now use to contest the upcoming election.
“The BJP allows garbage to remain on streets for long periods at the cost of the health of people and the result has been that this year serious illnesses have sprung up much before the monsoons. The people of Delhi have an opportunity to reject this kind of dangerous politics that the BJP and Congress routinely indulge in, and choose an honest alternative in the AAP”, he said.
