Staff Reporter

Delhi Police personnel are the new whipping boys in the Capital as attacks against them continue unabated. In another incident reported from the Capital, a Delhi Traffic head constable posted with Rohini Traffic Circle was thrashed by a group of lawyers near Rohini Court after he tried to prevent them from driving the wrong way down a one-way street.

The incident in question took place on Tuesday morning when head constable Santosh, on duty near Rohini Court, hauled up lawyer Virender Sangwan from pulling into a one-way street. The lawyer was asked to reverse the wrong way out of the one-way street. He refused to budge and got into a verbal duel with the traffic cop. When the traffic cop stood his ground, Sangwan rained blows on him and had his cronies tear up his uniform.

“A case under section 186 (obstructing public servant from discharge of duties), 353 (criminal assault to deter public servant from discharge of duties) and 332(voluntarily causing hurt) has been registered. Further investigations are underway,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer) Vikramjit Singh.
