The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Government plans to start at least 15 low cost mohalla clinics in the next few months and operationalise the 800-bed multi-specialty hospital within six months in north Delhi’s Burari area, announced Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal while inaugurating the hospital at Burari. Currently the hospital has 250-bed facilities and it will expanded to 800-bed, the Chief Minister said on Sunday.
While slamming previous Governments for doing politics on the hospital, Kejriwal said from past 30 years, only formalities were being followed by the previous Governments and no efforts were made for the quick functioning of the hospital. Initially, this hospital was proposed for 200-bed, but the Kejirwal Government extended it up to 800-bed.
Terming the hospital as a huge relief for residents of the area, Kerjiwal said, “When the hospital will start functioning, there will be no need for the people to go to AIIMS, Safadurjung and RMl hospitals as people will get advanced health care treatment at their door step.”Around 15 low-cost mohalla clinics will be commissioned in Burari, the Chief Minister said. He further criticised the previous Government for not making any efforts for the fast development of Burari hospital project. “From past 30 years, only political blame game and formalities were done by the earlier Governments.”
The Delhi Chief Minister also attacked the Centre saying his Government was working 24 hours while the BJP has been arresting an AAP MlA every month. “The BJP’s job is to create trouble, ours is to keep working. Either do our work or let us do our work but don’t be an obstruction,” Kejriwal said. “In 2011, construction of the hospital was started but it was being given to private giants. However, due to the protest of the people here, the strategy of the previous Government did not work,” said Kerjiwal.
Earlier, the last Government was spending 180 crore rupees on 200-bed. “It was when the AAP formed their Government in the national Capital, we revived the whole structure of the health sector in Delhi. Therefore, we increased the bed capacity to 800 and spending about `270 crores on the hospital project,” Chief Minister said.
Once fully functional, the hospital will cater to the migrant population of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh who had supported the AAP during the last Assembly polls. With this the ruling party in Delhi plans to consolidate its vote back of Poorvanchalis, said a political analyst. It may be noted that Delhi Health Minister Satyendra Jian told The Pioneer on August 7 that, construction work of the hospital is almost completed and the hospital will start functioning to its full capacity soon. In order to ensure that the hospital becomes fully functional, specialist doctors and paramedical staff will be recruited, he added. The hospital will have special facility departments for neurology, gynaecology, paediatrics and cardiology.
