A 55-year-old British national, who worked as tunnel manager with Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), was found dead in mysterious circumstances at his rented accommodation in south Delhi's Defence Colony area, according to police. His body was spotted by his friend on Sunday afternoon, said police. Preliminary investigations suggest that he died of alcohol overdose and the sleuth found beer bottles from his room, claimed police.
The deceased was identified as Paul Barker. On Sunday afternoon one of Paul's friends came to visit him at his residence when he saw him lying in his room with froth coming from his mouth and blood from his nose, said police.
He immediately made a call to police and Paul was rushed to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) where he was declared brought dead by the doctors, said police.
Paul worked for a firm which has been tasked for Delhi metro's tunnel management. He had come to India a few months ago and has been staying alone, said police, adding that they have informed his family members in the UK about the incident.
"We have kept the body for preservation in the mortuary and are waiting for the family to arrive," said a police officer. A case under relevant sections has been registered at the local police station. Police suspect no foul play in the incident and initial medical reports point to over consumption of alcohol.
