Bodies of a boy and a girl were found hanging from the ceiling fan in an OYO Room in south-west Delhi's Dwarka, police said on Friday. Police suspect that the duo took the extreme step because their families forbid them to marry each other.
According to the police sources, the door of the room was bolted from inside. The staff of the OYO Room tried to open the door but could not open it. That is when they called the manager who made a call to the police and forcibly broke the door open to see the two bodies hanging.
The bodies have been sent for post-mortem and police are trying to find out where the duo used to stay.
The OYO Rooms have a policy that they give privacy to couples and hence they waited for a while before calling police and breaking the door open.
A senior police official said inquest proceedings under section 174 Crpc has been initiated and the matter is being probed further.
When asked about their identities, police denied naming the two persons.
