BJP's Nupur pulls out all stops

Ankita Sharma

Contesting against Aam Admi Party’s chief ministerial candidate Arvind Kejriwal from New Delhi, 30-year-old BJP candidate Nupur Sharma has been criss-crossing the constituency. A former president of Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU), Sharma says she is not a novice in politics.

Meanwhile, Union Health and Family Welfare Minister JP Nadda campaigned for Sharma at Teen Murti Bhavan in Chanakyapuri and appealed the voters to vote for the BJP candidate. An alumna of london School of Economics (lSE) and a lawyer by profession, Sharma took a break from her job to serve as a full-time BJP worker.

From posh colonies to Government flats, the young candidate met the residents personally to discuss their issues. Sharma campaigned all the way from Teen Murti Marg in Chanakyapuri to Sarojini Nagar on the second last day of the poll campaign.

“Nupur Sharma has been associated with the party for the past seven years and we are quite sure that she will make it big,” said Aman Chauhan, a party worker. “Arvind Kejriwal made a host of promises. He promised public toilets for women but they are nowhere to be seen. He promised so many other things but ultimately what did Delhi receiveIJ A resignation from Kejriwal,” added another party worker, Ramesh.

Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad, the youth wing of BJP, also came out on streets to campaign for Sharma.  As BJP volunteers take to the streets across the Capital, the national Capital echoed with pro-BJP slogans, “Delhi ka hoga chaumukhi vikas, va surakshit hoga har kona, jab majboot irado wali BJP ko milega apke vote ka sath, kamal ka button dabayen, Delhi mein Bha Ja Pa layen.”
