In a bid to improve the conditions of sanitation in MCD as well as Government schools, NGO Sampurna in collaboration with the BJP will soon begin an awareness campaign under “Delhi School Adarsh Mission 2016”.
BJP leader Shobha Vijender said a survey was conducted in 455 schools and it was found that 10,00,000 children in MCD Schools and 15, 00,000 children are facing shortage of water and soaps in the school toilets.
"Even the sewers were filled and the bolts were broken. Some of the toilets of the schools are not clean; walls are dirty with cheap slogans and there are no washbasins to wash hands. The students were seen urinating and passing stool outside the school premises," she said.
"Around 5,000 volunteers will be selected to promote the campaign. 42,000 people have filled up the pledge forms till now and we are able to get answers to some questions through the checklist that has been sent to those 455 schools in which the survey has been conducted.
“The management of Sampurna is also going to meet the Mayors of South, East and North, Education Minister of Delhi, and the lieutenant Governor for the allowance of the campaign," she added.
