Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders and workers on Monday closed down the liquor shops at Ashram Chowk and Lajpat Nagar area alleging that these shops were running in close vicinity of educational institutions and religious places and residential areas.
The State BJP president Adesh Gupta charged the Arvind Kejriwal-led Delhi Government with crossing all limits of decency by opening liquor shops in close vicinity of educational institutions and religious places and residential areas.
Gupta said the Delhi Government has pushed Delhiites towards alcoholism by offering one bottle free on the purchase of one since the last few days and as a result of which even a daily wager instead of working, is now inclined to stand in the queue to buy a bottle of booze.
"Women and children are finding it difficult to even move in the area as there are long and serpentine queues of people for liquor. Before Kejriwal became the Chief Minister, he had promised 500 new schools, 20 new colleges, addition of new buses to DTC's fleet, making city pollution free, etc. but it's regrettable after becoming CM he has only betrayed Delhiites," said Gupta.
"Instead of ensuring tap water and sewer for people as he had promised he is only serving them liquor now.
Instead of being concerned for safety and security of women and children, youths and JJ dwellers, he has only worked for ensuring extra bonus revenue to liquor mafia by reducing the number of dry days," said Gupta.
