Delhi BJP chief Manoj Tiwari, along with BJP's West District workers, held a demonstration at Delhi Jal Board (DJB)'s zonal office on Friday. Tiwari was protesting against the poor water supply in several areas of West Delhi.
Tiwari said Delhi is regularly getting its share of water from Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand and there is no raw water shortage in water treatment plants. Owing to mismanagement by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Government, water plants are not working to full capacity. Tiwari blamed the Government for not having an effective summer action plan.
"As a result most parts of Delhi are today getting very little water supply and whatever supply comes is highly contaminated forcing all sections of people to buy drinking water from outside," said BJP MP from North East Constituency.
He further said areas of Delhi which are dependent on DJB's tanker supply like the jhuggi clusters, resettlement colonies and villages are craving for water and the national capital has been shamed having seen deaths and injuries during violent clashes between people lined up before tankers or public taps for an extra bucket of water.
"The under privileged people whose only source of water is tanker supply remain thirsty even as the Tanker Scam which started during Congress regime around 2010 continues unabated under Kejriwal Government despite being evidently detected in 2016 itself," said Delhi BJP , General Secretary, Kuljeet Singh Chahal.
