BJP MLAs meet Speaker, demand Special Assembly Session

Staff Reporter

The BJP legislative group on Wednesday met Delhi Assembly Speaker Ram Niwas Goel to demand a special session of the Delhi Assembly to discuss issues such as the exorbitant hike in electricity charges and waterlogging.

Addressing a joint press conference after meeting the Speaker, former BJP Delhi President and MLA Vijender Gupta, along with Mohan Singh Bisht, Ajay Mahawar, Anil Vajpayee, Jitender Mahajan and Abhay Verma, said that they want to draw the Government's attention to the burning issues in Delhi and seek their solutions to ensure the accountability of the Delhi Government.

Gupta stated that it is well known that TPDDL has significantly increased electricity rates under the name of PPAC. Delhi has already been grappling with a severe drinking water shortage for a long time.

Mohan Singh Bisht said that due to the Delhi government's negligence in making arrangements to tackle the rain, the problem of waterlogging has taken a severe turn. Ajay Mahawar reported that despite receiving timely information, the leaking barrage of the Munak canal broke, leading to three feet of water flooding several blocks in Bawana, disrupting the lives of millions of people.

Abhay Verma demanded that a special session of the Delhi Assembly be convened immediately so that these public issues can be discussed and the Delhi government's accountability can be established.

Anil Vajpayee said that while there is a provision for monsoon sessions in state assemblies across the country, the Delhi government is preoccupied with securing bail and handling court proceedings for its jailed Chief Minister and ministers. It is clear that the people of Delhi have been left to their own fate by the AAP government.
